Among the best works competing for the Fedrigoni Top Awards 2022, the special mention in the Publishing category was awarded to "Design and the Wondrous: on the Nature of Ornament", the catalogue for the art exhibition of the same name by Elise Gay & Kevin Donnot, printed by Musumeci S.p.A. and Printing Art Books.
The volume traces the evolution of a narrative of design based on a selection of 100 works by more than fifty artists, focusing on the evolution of design and ornament which, with the advent of the digital age, is no longer a simple motif but an animated form.
It was precisely this visual dynamism that earned the publication a special mention in the world’s only award for graphic designers, printers and brands, who all operate as members of a single team. The jury noted that the catalogue printed by Musumeci managed to replicate the rhythm of the exhibition held at the Saint-Étienne Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (Saint-Priest-en-Jarez, France). Each different type of content corresponds to a specific paper/print association (black on brown, silver on black, four-colour process on glossy white) and even the cover creates movement, playing with the ornamental motif produced by alternating materials with a psychedelic effect.

The award, established by Fedrigoni S.p.A. in 2005, selects works from all over the world with the aim of promoting the designs and work of people who use paper and self-adhesive materials in six categories: Publishing, Packaging, Label, Corporate Communication, Large Format Communication and Research.
